With 6,000 mobile users and more than 15,000 landlines, CERN's IT engineers asked themselves the big question: Can we move away from traditional PBX vendors and migrate our infrastructure to open-source solutions?Asterisk was key to answer this question, and today CERN is operating smoothly an agile telephony service that accommodates some of the laboratory's most critical communication services, while it is flexible enough to foster the development of future-proof WebRTC solutions.CERN's core telephony specialist Francisco Valentín will explore the main achievements and future milestones of this success story.
